THE SIXTEEN MAJOR EENTS OF 2007
IV – THE AFRICAN CHILD
DAY

In her
2007 work plan adopted by the executive committee, the
ambassadress Simone TIETI who is the wife of Ivory Coast
ambassador in Iran, as well as the President of African
Diplomatic Ladies Group (ADLG), planned the celebration
of African children according to the example of all
African ones. In memory of SOWETO BLACK children killed
in the cruelty of SHARPEVILLE in 1975.
This
entertaining event took place in the Ivory Coast
residence which is now a must. The commemoration of the
Day of the African child proceeded on May 26, 2007.
It was
a nice party which gathered more than … 70 African
children. Each of this young people all dressed up,
representing the future of Africa, went to this party
with their parents.
Led by
their chairwoman, Mrs TIETI, who was backed up by Mali’s
Ambassador, Mrs Lala DIALL and Shamsa ALI ABBAS of
KENYA, all the mothers worked a lot. With the benevolent
complicity of their mothers who played the role of
children’s picture framers for this occasion, children
from all parts of the continent present in Tehran
prepared and entertained the public with various shows
such as: poems, songs and a beauty contest for boys and
girls. Ivorian children performed two ballets.
The
ambassador of SIERRA LEONE, Senior of the African
Diplomatic corps, Mrs Hadja ALARI COLE, wanted to attend
all along this memorable afternoon.
For
this party which was dedicated to them above all, the
children were entitled to a magic show carried out by an
Iranian magician. He filled the children with wonder and
that’s saying the least.
Before
going back home, the children were invited to a copious
meal. So for this circumstance, the children delighted
in two salted meals and two sweetened ones from each
country. Then each of them received a present which was
bought thanks to the contribution of each family and the
moneys released by the mothers from the ADLG funds.
For
sure, it was a real commitment of African mothers of
Tehran.
